Writing Challenge X

Before my first day I knew nothing about the course, and loved the name! I knew we’d be reading, speaking, and writing. I had no concerns, yet remained very very very optimistic. The course it’s self made a very good impression on being consisted of things I’m already good at. Far as the instructor, Mr. Murray, I was like “damn he’s lit!”

Day one instilled in me even more hope than I already had. I knew I’d end as intended, strong, and with a great grade. I’ve enjoyed every exercise and essay. Overall, my expectations were met and I couldn’t be more pleased with the course. Murray’s way of teaching surprised me, but in a good way! I enjoy his approach because with his energy he gave me something to feed off of.

My ability to efficiently submit my content despite absences gratify me more so than surprise. I obtained an objective before and since day one, so maintains a clear cut focus has rewarded me greatly.

In difference, I would’ve worked less because some days it would be hard for me to bounce back first thing in the morning after working an evening shift.

For starters, I am sending love to women across the globe! The effects birth control have on women vary, and the degree depends solely on the woman herself versus whichever method she consumes. Effects ranging from mood swings, weight loss, abnormal bodily changes, and one of the least fortunate being sterilization. To me the best birth control for both men and women is abstinence.

I’ve experienced effects from birth control which led me to not support the consumption. During my relationship with pill contraceptives my body weight and emotions constantly fluctuated. Being the pills were apart of an everyday diet they began to affect my body and I more than any bad meal. I’d consider myself fortunate to not have underwent any severe health conditions as other women.

There’s a saying, “a girl’s first love is her father”, and I couldn’t agree any more than I do. A girl’s relationship with her dad affects her relations with other men tremendously. Not only does the lack of bond between a woman and her father shape her perspective on men as a whole, but it also affects how men handle, respect, and view her. A woman’s sexuality can be affected as well without the love and presence from her dad. Being raised in a one-parent home has provided me with validating experience.

The absence of one’s father has great effects which affect not only the dating game, but encounters with men entirely. As a young girl a dad has to set the bar for how men are obligated to date you, love you, and treat you. If/when one fails to do so it naturally forms an idea as to what kind of men a woman likes and dislikes.

Schools fail to educate students by the lack of passion faculty have for students entirely, resources, and sufficient courses.

Teaching requires compassion, concern, and understanding. Many lack all of 3 that are listed, and as a result there is no connection between teacher, student, or what’s being taught. All instructors should at least understand the fact that there’s more to the body that occupies the space in their class for what ever period of time. Whether that more is negative or positive taking into account what he/she may be dealing with outside of school should be done with grace. It is safe to say many people do what they do for an income and solely. Without passion for educating students and showing them the correct way, yes the school and faculty will fail students.

Without the proper books, handouts, and tools (computers, supplies etc) the quality of the lesson can be altered. A quick glimpse into the world we live in: An elementary school on the west side of Chicago has little to no updated books, poor technology, and depending on the building no recreational space, HOWEVER, an elementary school on the north side of Chicago has it made enough to replace textbooks with iPads and/or laptops. That alone should explain my entire argument.

Most importantly, students are being failed by schools by being forced to learn ideas and formulas that will not benefit them post primary/secondary. Banking, credit, home ownership, investing, politics etc is what should be taught in schools through out the nation. No doubt being able to count, read, and write is just as important, but being instilled with skills to survive and maintain a nice adult life is as well!

Students are being failed by schools because some faculty members aren’t genuinely concerned with the well being of them, the lack of resources, and sufficiency of courses. As a whole, I pray that both public and private schools are met with nearly perfect circumstances for both the faculty and students.

Do not doubt that I adore and respect both teachers of mine, Dr. Adams and Mr. Lee, however allow me to explain how they’re different in instructing, personality, and role in my life. Dr. Adams is my speech instructor while Mr. Lee is my computer. On Mondays and Wednesday I speak. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I am tech savvy. Let’s begin distinguishing both amazing teachers.

In speech, Dr. Adams demands respect while a person is speaking whether that is herself or a student, and I respect that. She gives us options, she values our input, and incorporates a nice balance between individual and group work. While Mr. Lee is extremely chill in his ways and when it comes to teaching. He does not require too much of his students, but he expects us all to stay focused on what he’s sharing. There is never any group work during this session. More so one on one instructions. Regardless, both teachers still get my vote!

When it comes to energy I observe, protect, and value. Dr. Adams has a very pretty spirit, she’s wise, and very faithful however I’ve witnessed her attitude get the best of her which doesn’t phase me. I am very much empathetic and human, and we all have our days. Our admiration for one another enhances each session. I am very much fond of her. On the other hand, Mr. Lee is so adorable, funny, and smart. Mr. Lee speaks with a really strong accent, so we have this funny phrase, “I am not happy”, and whenever I am not understanding what he’s asking of me I raise my hand while saying our phrase. It’s really cute lol. As well, Mr. Lee’s spirit is warming, he’s friendly with his students, and direct while teaching.

Becoming a well-written blogger has been on my agenda for months, and when I enrolled in school I had no idea as to what I would have to study, but I am deeply grateful it is what it is. Each one of my instructors serve me a different purpose which makes them much more dear to me. I enjoy speaking engagement, my entirety consists of me speaking in the best manner, so Dr. Adams is enhancing my public speaking skills while also allowing me to perfect the relationship I have with an audience as a speaker. I’d taken on designing a web page and online brand on my own before I had even began class, but Mr. Lee has exposed me to many different abilities, features, and wizards on a computer. Sending much gratitude to him! Most importantly, Mr. Murray’s person and class is dear to me most because as stated I am an English major. Since day one Murray has challenged what I thought I knew about the rhetoric of English and how with words things can be interpreted distinctively. I value everything shared with me by Murray. I live and write English, so this course and Murray him self is appreciated.

I am grateful to have been instructed by persons full of light, wisdom, and as much experience I desire to have. All three teachers of mine are different and alike in ways as mentioned. One thing for sure and two for certain I would brag on how well each of them are to anyone awaiting to take their classes. Xo!

Being that this is my first semester at East-West university my options to compare to and from are limited, however this class is my second favorite because I admire the instructor’s way of teaching, the lectures, and objective of the class entirely. This course couldn’t have been assigneed to me at a better time in my life being the fact I am an English major with a blog in the works.

I admire Mr. Murray’s way of teaching because he’s authentic and full of energy. Since day one I’ve had the impression that this guy cares about what he shares and he’s not wrong about it. I respect Murray’s approach more than any other instructor of mine because he’s direct and overall cool as hell. Attitude, knowledge, and personality gets an A plus from me.

Honestly, I don’t care for lectures however the way Murray presents information makes them very tolerable. At the top of the morning he’s exuding an energy that calls to be matched by his students. You cant help but attend and enjoy.

My love for grammar and the English language is ocean deep, so whenever the opportunity arises for me to learn more I take it. Can you guess which of the two I chose between math and rhetoric? Aha. I have aspirations of launching an amazing blog, writing series of novels and stories, so I must have writing down to a science. This is nearly the end of course and I’ve learned much from Mr. Murray.

Rhetoric and Style is different than any other class I am currently taking at East-West University because my instructor makes it different with his enticing personality, his approach when lecturing, and the content being taught alone. Just as my other two classes this course has had an amazing affect on my progress and plan I have at stake.

My neighborhood has no contribution to who I AM however it does have an affect on how I view other cities in Illinois and the world entirely.

  • When I’m far away at home with my family I am comfortable, loving, and peaceful. I am my most relaxed self while being in my true form. I am naked in my bedroom and full of nice scents.
  • At school I am very focused, intentional, and reserved as I am most places most of the time. During class I may check my phone a few times, but other than that I’m very devoted to lectures and my studies.
  • At work I am extremely reserved and observing. To say I watch everything and everyone is true, but while working it’s to a different degree. I need to know what everyone around me is doing because anything can happen at any given moment especially in public settings.
  • Being raised in the suburbs has made me more alert than anything. Where I’m from is very subtle in conflict, engagement, and noise which provides me a sense of comfort yet still makes me want to be attentive.
  • Where I’m from has a lot to do with my desire to hang out in Chicago. I deem my city boring to an extent, so when I’m seeking a thrill I want to be in Chicago in different directions for different activities.

Chicago is not a great place because housing can be extremely expensive, the weather isn’t always pleasant, and certain neighborhoods are infested with gang violence. The beauty of Windy City certainly outweighs the flaws, but let me talk about the downsides of a city I deem the greatest.

Granted Chicago’s a gorgeous city, the air is fine, and the views are amazing. However, the price of rent here is equivalent to one’s mortgage elsewhere. The average cost of rent here can range from $700 to $4,000 or more just monthly. As most of us do believe in the saying, “you get what you pay for”, but to me that price is grand. The higher the rent in Chicago neighborhoods the better the resources such as stores, schools, parks, and centers.

As mentioned before the air is fine here in Chicago, but one day the sun may beam down on you so heavily next you’ll have on ski gear. Just last week it was 70 degrees, my outfit on skimpy, and toes were out and on the day after I was forced into a winter coat. Literally. There are more than enough amusements (inside and out) to enjoy, so I guess that makes up for such conflicted weather. To me the weather makes an absurd impact on the gun violence rate. Gang members are less likely to commit shootings and homicides in the winter than in the summer. Everyone is focused on commuting to one one place from the last during snow days, but during warmer days everyone is actively enjoying the weather by hosting barbecues, block club and house parties, and enjoying other attractions. Let’s discuss where I feel Chicago is mostly dominated by gang violence below.

Gang/Gun violence has no name or designated place of occurrence, but it has been statistically proven that majority shootings and homicides occur South or West side of Chicago. Areas that are deemed “ghetto” are dominated by violence which is acted by men who have been oppressed using weapons that have been naively given to them. Hey, I’m just the messenger.

I am a firm believer that Chicago is an amazing place but like all things here we have flaws. The cost of living here is grand, the weather is shadier than a pack of trees, and many areas are dominated by gang and gun violence.

Without a doubt the amount of beautiful cities is immense, and Chicago is one because of the attractions, food, and commute system. If you’re looking for a beautiful place to get away consider Chicago, but check the weather first lol! The food you can experience here is unmatched, and everything is quickly accessible. Windy City is one of the best cities!

First of all, the list of things to do in Chicago is infinite. Whether you’re alone or with family or the age of 3 or 30 there will always be something for you to enjoy. Navy Pier is an amazing bang for your buck because there you can eat, shop, explore, enjoy amusements, take photos, and partake in a boat ride. My personal favorite is and will always be Millennium Park because it consists of the world known Cloud Gate. You can eat, take pictures, enjoy arts (music, dance, etc), and take a splash in Crown Fountain. Listed above is just a tiny glimpse into the city’s amazing attractions. Now, lets get into something we ALL love…THE FOOD!!!

Among all things Chicago’s variety of food is unpredictable and according to me we are the masters of lemon pepper and mild sauce. A personal favorite/recommendation is Harold’s because there chicken, shrimp, burgers, and meatless options are available with the choice of the signature mix, lemon pepper and mild sauce. Besides that Harold’s is Chicago based. Whether you’re into American, oriental, seafood, or even vegetarian your buds will always be appeased. Chicago has amazing food for all amazing people nonetheless, but read along and discover how these meals can quickly be retrieved.

Fortunately I’ve been to many places and have experienced different styles of transportation, and for many reasons Chicago’s is superior. Not only is the system made with simplicity, but it is affordable. Fare in Chicago is $2.25, .75 for students, and if you’re a senior you’re free. Our city’s buses are spacious, somewhat comfortable, and easy to discover. The routes are simple and very much convenient. I am a firm believer in the subway trains also because not only are they my preference of commutation, but they seem safer and faster. Chicago’s Transit is highly recommended whether you’re a car owner. citizen, and/or visitor. Save money, save gas, and explore this beautiful city!
